The project of domestic manufacturing of drilling fluids microbubbles was completed by Iran’s Oil Upstream Industry Research faculty and was unveiled at the 20th International Oil, Gas, Refining, and Petrochemical Exhibition on Saturday.
Mohammad Soleimani, the project manager, maintained that the technical knowledge to domestically design and produce the drilling fluids has been obtained by using nano-additives and polymer compounds.
“The American companies previously held the monopoly over this technology, but now Iran’s Research Institute of Petroleum Industry has succeeded in manufacturing the compounds at laboratory stage of research and soon the field test will be carried out in one of the oil wells in the country,” he said.
Noting that the drilling fluids produced by American manufacturers cannot withstand pressure and heat, Soleimani added that Iran has managed to boost the pressure stability of the microbubbles several times more than their American version.
The 20th International Oil, Gas, Refining and Petrochemical Exhibition kicked off on May 6 and lasted until May 9 in the Iranian capital. Many world countries used the event to secure their return to the Iranian market, especially after a possible nuclear deal between Tehran and the 5+1, under which sanctions against Iran will be finally lifted.
